What are papercuts?
Papercuts are very delicate, detailed and intricate works of art. They are designs cut out of a single piece of paper. Every part of a papercut is connected to another, and the connected lines form the picture. Papercuts make unique gifts and elegant interior decorations. Papercutting is a form of folk art originated in China. The Art of Papercutting section gives a brief introduction.
The paper cut art on SinoPaperArt is handcrafted by folk artists. As a result, it is normal for the same design to vary slightly from one piece to another.

How do I display papercuts?
Paper-cuts already attached to backing are ready-to-frame. They can be easily and beautifully framed and displayed with regular photo frames. You can also add a mat before framing. Crafts supply stores provide mats in a variety of colors.
Loose paper cuts (those not attached to backing) offer a lot of flexibility for display. You can pick out a backing, affix the paper cut to it and then mat and frame it with a photo frame. When affixing a paper cut to backing, you most likely only need to glue a few spots in order to fix the paper cut securely onto the backing.
An alternative to a regular photo frame is a document frame that "floats" a paper-cut artwork without backing between two clear sheets of glass. The transparency of such a frame is particularly suitable for showcasing the intricacy and detail of paper-cut art.
You can also affix loose paper-cuts directly to windows, walls, lanterns or other surfaces.

How should I know about handling papercuts?
Paper cuts are made of a thin piece of paper, and are very delicate. They should be handled with care to avoid tearing. Bending or folding does not damage papercuts.
